“In the energy efficiency sector, things are constantly evolving. I love being on the forefront of that: leading the industry instead of catching up.”
Josef brings a strong blend of construction experience, technical skill, and building‑science knowledge to Solares Architecture. He began his career as a carpenter, training at St. Lawrence College and working on residential construction projects across Ontario and Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. This hands‑on experience continues to inform his practical approach to design, documentation, and construction details.
Seeking deeper technical focus, he later completed the Architectural Technology program at George Brown College. Early in his career, he worked with an energy‑auditing firm conducting ENERGY STAR and LEED certification testing for residential buildings, developing a solid foundation in building performance and envelope analysis.
At Solares, Josef supports residential projects across all phases of design and documentation, with expertise in Revit and Building Information Modelling (BIM). He contributes to model organization, drawing standards, and coordination across the office, helping ensure technical clarity, consistency, and efficient collaboration throughout the design and construction process.
Josef values the continual learning inherent in residential design and construction. “Every project brings new challenges, new opportunities, and new products,” he says. “We’re constantly learning.”
